Well another Souther Rocker goes down.

Original BLACKFOOT drummer/singer JAKSON SPIRES suffered a brain hemorrhage Sunday night (March 13th), and sources say there is no brain activity at all, he's being held "alive" by machines. Blackfoot were formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1972 by Spires, singer/guitarist Rickey Medlocke (now in LYNYRD SKYNYRD), the grandson of bluegrass musician Shorty Medlocke, who wrote 'Train, Train', bassist/singer Greg T. Walker and guitarist Charlie Hargrett. Blackfoot are well-known for a classic string of releases in the late '70s/early '80s - 1979's Strikes, 1980's Tomcattin' and 1981's Marauder. The band were gearing up to hit the road in early April for a string of US dates featuring Spires, Walker, Hargrett and singer Bobby Barth.

This tragic news follows the death of Danny Joe Brown, a founding member of southern rockers MOLLY HATCHET, who died from pneumonia on Thursday, March 10th. He was 53.
